Newcastle Knights
The NuTLC men's team, also known as the Newcastle Knights, competes in the North of England Men's Lacrosse Association. The team was founded in 2008, and in the 2008-2009 season they finished third in NEMLA Division 5, narrowly missing out on a promotion spot and losing to a strong Leeds team in the Nigel Wayne Trophy Final.
After losing a few players and gaining some new ones in the off season, the Knights started the 2009-2010 season at full pelt, beating Norbury B by a score of 34-0. The team battled through a season greatly affected by the horrible English winter weather, and in May 2010 the Knights emerged as Division 5 winners.
In the 2010-2011 season, the Newcastle Knights will compete in the NEMLA Premiership 3. The Knights play in predominantly silver with black and white accents. Match reports can be found in the "
News" section.
In the in the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons, the team worked closely with Northumbria University, providing coaching, additional training sessions and referees for home games. Northumbria University finished the 2008-2009 season as BUCS Trophy runners up. In the 2009-2010 season, they finished 11th overall in the country, and reached the BUCS Trophy Semi-Finals. The Knights hope to increase their involvement with both Northumbria University as well as Newcastle University in future seasons, with the aim of making the city of Newcastle a hotbed for quality lacrosse.
