Morning all.

Fixtures were released last night and have been update on THIS PAGE. The season starts with our big away trip to Chester on 2nd October, and ends with Hull coming to ours.

Only seven teams in the league means only 12 league fixtures, but this is compensated with an extended cup competition involving a Champions League-esque group stage.

Don't forget, you can keep track of all the changes to the fixtures throughout the season by subscribing to the club calendar...details are HERE

Full details of the upcoming league season can be found at http://nemla.leaguerepublic.com

See you all tonight....

Exciting technological developments and a bit of copying from other websites mean we now have a downloadable club calendar.

This means that you can import it into your calendar programme of choice or on to your smart phone and have all the club events for the coming year (that we know of...) at your finger tips. You can also subscribe to the calendar which will mean that when something (eg a game) gets re-arranged, your calendar will automatically update as well.

I've been trying it out for a couple of days whilst playing around with it, and I am smitten with it.

Check it out here and let us know any problems in the comments below.

Cheers

As the season approaches, a statement has been released by the MPC (the body that manages men's lacrosse for the ELA) and the league saying that the proposed restructure of the league system will be going ahead.

This restructure will bring all first teams into one ladder, with the A, Extra A, B and C teams in another. It's thought that this will  encourage new clubs to appear by making their trip to the top shorter.

What this means to The Knights is that we'll have to go to Hull again. Here's how the North Premier Leagues look at present:

Premiership One (10 Teams)
Stockport
Heaton Mersey
Cheadle
Wilmslow
Manchester Waconians
Rochdale
Timperley
Brooklands
Mellor
Sheffield University

Premiership Two (8 Teams)
Nottingham
Boardman & Eccles
Sheffield Steelers
Norbury
Ashton-U-Lyne
Cheadle Hulme
Poynton
Stopfordians

Premiership Three (8 Teams)
Leeds
Oldham
Liverpool
Newcastle
Heaton Mersey Guild
Hull
York
Chester

Few of the teams in Prem3 are an unknown quantity to us, and I think we stand a decent chance of putting in a few upsets....only 6 weeks to go!

Bluesfest 2010, held in Greater London, was attended by teams from all over the UK, Europe and the world. The men's team walked away with the Men's Minor Plate after beating Liverpool in sudden death overtime. The women's team earned themselves the Women's Minor Plate with two solid days of play. Both teams bring back more silverware for the cabinet. Well done guys and girls!

The Newcastle Knights have finished the 2009-2010 season at the top of the North of England Men's Lacrosse Association Division 5 table. After a tough season which was greatly affected by the British winter weather, the Knights emerged victorious, earning promotion into Division 4. The team was awarded with the Division 5 trophy, shown on the left, which will be added to the NuTLC trophy cabinet.

Some hard work behind the scenes has seen the Knights receive a generous grant from the Mars Refuel Drink Fund to help towards purchasing a regular training slot at the Royal Grammar School astro pitches in Jesmond. These trainings will be held every Thursday at 7pm from October 8th until Christmas. The Newcastle upon Tyne Lacrosse Club would like to thank Mars Refuel and RGS for their support and hope that the regular training will pay off! Check out the Mars Refuel Drink Fund website.

Check out the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, who printed a full page spread about the Club in their November 11, 2009 "Grassroots Sports" section (page 47). The article, minus pictures, can be found online: 'Lacrosse: Knights Receive a Major Cash Boost'
