After a few weeks of relative silence, the hamsters in the nutlax.com analysis booth have got out of their wheels and back to their computers – here’s their first instalment of your NEMLA Premier 2 roundup for this season.
The first week of the season saw Wilmslow hosting Rochdale and Cheadle Hulme travelling to Mellor. Both resulted in home wins 8-6 and 19-5 respectively.
In the second week, there were 3 games with Rochdale topping Norbury 13-5 at Bridgeford Road, Wilmslow winning away at Cheadle Hulme 21-5, and Mellor remaining unbeaten at Boardman.
Into October and on the 4th, Wilmslow defeated Mellor 23-0 and Norbury did the same, but less so, to Cheadle Hulme 14-3.
The 11th saw your Knights travelling to Rochdale to get on the wrong end of a 7-6 score line, Mellor topping Norbury 6-3 and Wilmslow going big on Boardman & Eccles 21-4.
Last weekend saw Cheadle Hulme travelling to Longbenton for 30-0 loss, Wilmslow winning away at Norbury 12-6, and Mellor topping Sheffield Uni 7-10 in Sheffield.
Results this week Shef Uni taking a narrow win at Wilmslow 13-11, Norbury taking a 12-10 win at Boardman and of course your Newcastle Knights claiming a 16-6 win at Mellor.
That leaves the table looking like this:
1. Wilsmlow 5-1 (W-L)
2. Mellor 4-2
3. Newcastle 2-1
4. Rochdale 2-1
5. Sheffield Uni 2-1
6. Norbury 2-3
7. Boardman & Eccles 0-3
8. Cheadle Hulme 0-5
Whether or not you can read anything into the table at this point in the season with the disparity in games played, but that’s how it stands.
A reminder that’s worth bearing in mind – positions of teams tied on points at the end of the season will be decided by head-to-head record and not overall goal difference.
Next week sees only two games with Wilmslow making the trip north and east to take on you Knights, and Shef Uni welcoming Norbury.
